Top 7 Places To Get A Guilt-Free Lunch In Holland
And no, they're not all salads
Bikini season is around the corner, guys. But so are a lot of nice food places. Whoops.
No worries, we have got you covered. With a little help from our Dutch colleagues, we’ve collected our 7 favourite healthy lunch places in The Netherlands. Ticking both the health and taste boxes. You are very welcome.
Cotton Cake
Cotton Cake is the most Insta-perfect place, located in the trendy-and-not-so-touristy Pijp district in Amsterdam. But trust us: the menu is as delicious as it is double tap–worthy.
Editor’s pick: spring rolls (with the best peanut dip in town).
Hills & Mills
Hills & Mills, referring to the Dutch windmills. But don’t expect the bland Dutch cuisine. Hills & Mills is about fresh, homemade goodness. Oh and got a diet? No excuse not to go: this place is suited for more than 10 diets!
Editor’s pick: sourdough spelt sandwich with salmon and avocado.
Poke Bowl Rotterdam
Poke Bowl Rotterdam is the first Hawaiian Poké Bowl in The Netherlands. And dear aloha, it’s good. The Dutch weather might not always give you Hawaiian vibes; but this place certainly does.
Editor’s pick: the Holy Shrimp bowl with mango, carrot, rettich, cucumber, sesame dressing, spring onion, grated coconut and sesame.
Pistache Café
Pistache Café is the place to go if you want to enjoy a healthy breakfast or lunch in, well, a green atmosphere. The green color palette perfectly fits the Pistache name and looks like you stepped right into a interior Pinterest board.
Editor’s pick: the apple cranberry walnut salad is to die (ok, let’s say pay a visit) for. And just in case you (want to) have a cheatday: the Pistachio cheesecake…
Smood Juicebar
Utrecht’s coolest health conscious food spot, if you ask us. Smood Juicebar offers veggie and fruit juices, delicious bowls and sweets without sugar. So. Dang. Delicious. The outdoor terrace is the perfect vantage point for scanning the Dutchies at the busy Vismarkt.
Editor’s pick: the Summer Special with pineapple, banana, strawberry, orange and cocos.
HAKA Saladebar
Being gluten-free in Delft is no longer too much of an obstacle, thanks to Haka Salad Bar. In fact, when it opened in 2015 it was the first gluten free and organic salad bar in Holland. HAKA specialises in gluten-, lactose- and refined sugar-free and halal diets, so you will be able to munch on every dish on the menu without feeling terrible afterwards. You’re welcome.
Editor’s pick: the grilled chicken salad
Dr. Blend
Superfoods galore! Dr. Blend is the best place for a superfood pitstop. In addition to their blended goodness, they serve sandwiches, wraps, salads and coffee. Oh and Dr. Blend himself is happy to answer your questions about vitamins and minerals!
Editor’s pick: Dr. Just Beat It (#namegoals) smoothie with apple juice, beetroot, banana, pineapple, cauliflower, strawberries, ginger and coconut milk.
